Objective: Created for the general patient population at the Georgia Regents University Department of Family Medicine, this animation is designed to prevent confusion, disappointment or hostility when a patient demands a prescription and the doctor refuses. It explains the difference between bacteria and viruses and thus the reason why antibiotics are not always the answer. The intent is to give a broader understanding of what antibiotic resistance is and why it is such a serious issue--from the global scale right down to your very own digestive tract.
